THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is requesting public assistance to further its investigation into the death of 38-year-old Rajwinder Bains of Surrey.
On January 23, her family reported her missing to the Surrey RCMP and a missing person’s investigation was initiated. Investigators conducted extensive ground searches, spoke to multiple people, and conducted area canvassing for video surveillance.
During the course of the investigation, Bains’ body was discovered and her death is now being investigated as a homicide. IHIT has conduct of the investigation.
IHIT is working closely with its partners from the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.
“IHIT is exploring all avenues of investigation into Ms. Bains’ death,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang on Thursday. “Detectives continue to pursue leads that may answer the many questions remaining and are urging anyone with information to come forward.”
Bains was last seen leaving a TD Canada Trust Bank in the 5600-block of 152nd Street in Surrey at approximately 9:30 a.m. on January 7 (see photo).
