IIO investigating after man seriously injured in arrest in Surrey

THE Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) announced on Friday that it is investigating the injuries of a man following his arrest in Surrey.

Information provided by the Surrey Police Service states that at about 8:40 p.m. on October 6, an officer saw a man shouting aggressively at a group of women in the 10700-block of 135A Street.

The man was arrested and sustained a serious but not life-threatening injury while being taken into custody.

The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and is investigating.
