India’s flourishing ties with B.C. and Alberta highlighted at Republic Day reception

AT the 75th Indian Republic Day reception hosted by Indian Consul General Manish in Vancouver, Brenda Bailey, B.C. ‘s Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation of BC, was the chief guest, alongside Shane Getson, Alberta’s Chief Government Whip and Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development.
Bailey shared her admiration for India’s remarkable progress and vibrant democratic traditions, highlighting the flourishing India-BC bilateral ties and rich people-to-people exchanges.
Getson conveyed greetings from the Alberta Government and emphasized the growing economic engagement between India and Alberta.
Manish highlighted India’s phenomenal economic growth, its recent successful G20 presidency, space advancements, and its role as “Vishwa Mitra” in global collaborations. He underscored the multifaceted partnership between India and Western Canada, expressing India’s commitment to further strengthen this bond.
Among those present were Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the B.C. Legislative Assembly, Labour Minister Harry Bains, Jagrup Brar, Minister of State for Trade, MLAs, Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke, Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, members of the diplomatic corps, industry leaders and others.
Adding flavor to the festivities, guests relished delicious Indian street food and millet-based cuisine while enjoying captivating cultural programs.
