Inmate at Kent institution in Agassiz assaulted

THE Correctional Service Canada announced on Wednesday that an inmate was assaulted at Kent Institution, a maximum security federal institution in Agassiz, on May 3.

Staff responded quickly to resolve the incident. The injured inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment. The inmate has since returned to the institution. No staff members or other inmates were injured, according to the CSC.

The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken. The Agassiz RCMP and the institution are presently investigating the incident.
