SURREY RCMP are continuing to investigate an incident of a suspicious package on King George Boulevard near 102nd Avenue.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on April 29, Surrey RCMP conducted a vehicle stop in the 10100-block of King George Boulevard. The adult male driver of the vehicle was identified by police and it was confirmed that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The male was arrested and during a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located and seized suspected methamphetamine and more than $5,000 in cash. Police also located a small suspicious package inside the vehicle.
Investigators suspected the package may have been an improvised explosive device and engaged the assistance of the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU). EDU officers attended the scene, removed the package from the vehicle remotely and disposed of it in a safe area.
No charges have been laid as the investigation is ongoing. The remnants of the package are being sent for analysis to possibly determine the contents.
