Keerat Sehra, 19, of Brampton arrested in relation to carjacking

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police have arrested a man involved in the carjacking of a mother and her three-year-old daughter in the City of Mississauga. 

On Friday, August 7, at approximately 7:33 .m., police were investigating a stolen vehicle incident. At that time, three suspects matching the description of those involved in the carjacking were observed in a taxi. The taxi driver was offered money to drive away. The taxi driver was assaulted but did not require any medical treatment.

A vehicle stop was initiated by a STEP unit member in the area of Novo Star Drive and Mavis Road in Mississauga. At that point, the passengers in the cab were investigated concerning their involvement in the stolen vehicle incident. 

A brief struggle ensued during the investigation, which resulted in an officer sustaining minor injuries. One suspect was arrested for robbery and assault peace officer. The two unknown suspects then escaped on foot. 

On August 7, at approximately 7:59 p.m., the victim was getting into her vehicle in the area of Haines Artist Way and Elliott Parliament Street in the City of Mississauga. The victim placed her three-year-old child in the rear car seat when two suspects approached her.

The two men made a demand for her vehicle, a 2018 black BMW with Ontario license BVLR298. The victim was able to push by one of the suspects and removed her child from the car seat.

The vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Haines Artist Way. The mother and child did not sustain any physical injuries during this ordeal.

Keerat Sehra, a 19-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with robbery, assault peace officer, and fail to comply with release order. In November of 2019, Keerat Sehra entered into a recognizance of bail in relation to break and enter charges, disguise with intent, robbery with a firearm, and use imitation firearm, dangerous operation, and possession of property obtained by crime. 

Sehra was held for a bail hearing and transported to the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Saturday, August 8. Two suspects are outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.
