Lack of NDP action on ambulance shortage risks lives: BC Liberals

THE BC Liberals are calling on Premier John Horgan to step up and provide the resources needed to keep people safe as British Columbians are left waiting hours for ambulances in emergencies.

“Right now, our frontline workers are being stretched to the brink and paramedics in particular are struggling with low staffing levels and long hours, and are in desperate need of better government support,” said Renee Merrifield, BC Liberal Critic for Health.

“We need to see this government, and this Premier, take immediate action so that British Columbians are not left needlessly suffering while waiting for help to arrive. People depend on ambulances and emergency services at the worst moments of their lives, and this government needs to fix this mess before someone dies.”

The BC Liberals noted that recently in Surrey, a woman experiencing a medical emergency was forced to wait more than nine and a half hours for an ambulance to arrive.

  1. Hold on here a minute… The Liberals Premier threw a toonie at a paramedic not too long ago. The BC Liberals didn’t do anything in support on the Ambulance Service for 16 years. If fact, they were doing everything in their power to privatize it.
