Man allegedly paid to drive his vehicle into Burrard Inlet in Port Moody

PORT Moody Police said on Tuesday that they were investigating an overnight incident which resulted in a vehicle submerged in Burrard Inlet.

On March 4 just before 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a live-streaming video taking place at Rocky Point boat launch where a man was allegedly being paid to drive his vehicle into the inlet.

When police arrived at the scene, the vehicle was fully submerged in the inlet. The driver was located at the scene and detained. He was later released and criminal charges – including mischief and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle – are being considered.

The vehicle remains in the inlet at this time as tow operators were unsuccessful with removing it on Monday night. As a result, the boat launch is partially closed.

Police said that they are aware of videos of this incident circulating on social media and asked anyone with additional information to contact them.
