Man arrested in Delta in car stolen from New Westminster

ON Wednesday, January 3, vigilant citizens, concerned about two individuals who appeared unconscious with visible drug paraphernalia in a parked car, promptly notified the Delta Police Department.

Before the officers’ arrival, the occupants regained consciousness and drove off. Subsequently, officers located the car nearby, conducted a license plate check, and identified it as reported stolen the day before from New Westminster.

When the car parked in a nearby business lot, members of DPD’s Patrol Support Team (PST) safely arrested the two occupants for possession of stolen property. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Tony Lawrence, with no fixed address, faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a condition of release. He is currently in custody. The passenger was released without charges.

The PST is known for its agility and expertise in assisting complex patrol-based investigations. The current PST includes officers who have joined the section as recently as this week and immediately demonstrated their capability to address a range of investigations promptly and covertly, Delta Police said.
