Man Found Dead In Car In Surrey

A man was found murdered in his car in Surrey making it the first murder in Surrey of 2014. Last year in 2013 there were 25 murders in Surrey.

RCMP checked the vehicle, parked neared 189th Street and 92nd Avenue, at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said as soon as a Surrey Mountie arrived at the scene, he knew he was dealing with a murder.

“Initial investigation supported that this was a homicide …” Duchesneau said. “Our priority at this point is to confirm the victim’s identity and notify his family.”

The area, surrounded by large rural lots, remained cordoned off for much of the day, as IHIT was brought in and investigators combed the scene and interviewed nearby residents.

Police are asking anyone with information about the homicide, or who was in the area where the vehicle was found, to contact investigators at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
