THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on Monday that the human remains located in Maple Ridge have been confirmed to be 43-year-old Jessica Cunningham.

On August 26, Ridge Meadows RCMP were on scene in the 22800-block of Gillis Place gathering information for an ongoing missing person investigation.

IHIT was called in and worked in partnership with Ridge Meadows RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS).

IHIT confirmed that the deployment was in relation to the missing person investigation for Cunningham and as a result of the investigative efforts, on August 26, police located human remains.

On August 27, the BC Prosecution Service laid a charge of indignity to human remains against Mylie Barron in relation to this investigation.

IHIT said it has continued to work closely with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, IFIS and the BC Coroners Service to advance the investigation and at this time, it can confirm that the human remains are those of Cunningham.

“Investigators continue to work to understand the circumstances that led to Jessica’s death,” said IHIT Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi. “Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones.”
