WRESTLING coach Sucha Mann’s Miri Piri Wrestling Club of Abbotsford had a spectacular win at this year’s B.C. Open Wrestling Championship (under age 18) last Saturday organized by the University of Fraser Valley’s Cascades Wrestling club at W.J Mouat Secondary School.
Miri Piri Club bagged four gold, three silver and two bronze medals. This was the club’s second victory in a row.
Gold Medal winners:
36 kg: Parmjot Sidhu
50 kg: Pritpal Johal
60 kg: Umrao Dhadda
80 kg: Manraj Johal
Silver Medal winners:
46 kg: Ravdeep Toor
57 kg: Anmol Lidder
69 kg: Summit Mann
Bronze Medal winners:
63 kg: Gursajjan Bhullar
80 kg: Arbaaz Gill
In fourth place were Ravdeep Toor (who also competed in the 50 kg weight class) and Arjun Mahil (57 kg).
Miri Piri Club is situated near the Abbotsford Airport on Ross Road and is evidently doing a good job in keeping kids away from gangs and drugs.
Mann told The VOICE that he will be taking seven wrestlers to the nationals in New Brunswick in the second week of April and expects two of them to be selected for the Canadian national team that will be participating in the PanAm cadets championships (age 17 and under) in Mexico in June.
