Natural gas leak following motor vehicle collision in Surrey

UPDATE (5 P.M.) Surrey RCMP is advising the public roads have now re-opened at the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the area of 66th Avenue and 128 Street, where a vehicle had hit a natural gas meter. Fortis BC attended the scene to address the leak, and the situation has now been safely resolved.

 

SURREY RCMP are at the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the area of 66 Avenue and 128 Street where a vehicle hit a natural gas meter.

Fortis BC has been advised, and the immediate area is being evacuated as a precaution until crews can arrive to make repairs.

Road closures are in effect northbound and southbound on 128 Street around 66 Avenue. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
