ON February 13 at noon on Highway 1, an ambulance driver reported to police that a black Hyundai sedan was driving too fast on the Gagliardi Way onramp and sped right off the highway.

BC Highway Patrol found that the 19-year-old West Vancouver driver and his 19-year-old friend had no injuries, but the driver had lost traction in the wet conditions and taken his mom’s car deep into the mud.

The Class 7 novice driver was given:

* A ticket for speed relative to conditions, section 144(1)(c) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act ($167);
* A ride to safety;
* The address of the tow truck company where mom’s car had been towed.
