THE City of Surrey has launched a new online platform called the Climate Action Tracker, making it easier for the public to stay up to date with Surrey’s climate action initiatives. The tracker is intended to share the City’s progress in meeting the targets and goals outlined in the City’s Climate Change Action Strategy, enhancing transparency and accountability with the community.
“The Climate Action Tracker is not just a tool, it’s a testament to our dedication towards a sustainable future,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke on Tuesday. “This innovative platform will provide timelines and updates on key areas. With the implementation of the Climate Action Tracker, our community will be able to monitor each milestone as we work toward achieving our climate goals.”
The tracker focuses on six key action areas from the strategy, aiming for a zero-carbon, climate-resilient Surrey by 2050. It includes detailed updates, timelines, and contacts for each action.
This dynamic tool is designed to evolve, with new features added over time to improve its reporting capabilities.
The City says the creation of the Climate Action Tracker is a critical step from the Climate Change Action Strategy to enable residents to track its progress in tackling climate change.
