New Westminster Police investigate suspicious fire on 12th Street

THE New Westminster Police Department is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on Monday, August 11 at approximately 2:42 a.m. at a business in the 600-block of 12th Street. The business was not occupied and sustained extensive damage.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of this investigation and is working alongside its partners at the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service.

“Investigators are seeking more information on a red van that was seen leaving the area,” said Media Relations Officer Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “If you have any information about that van, including CCTV or dash cam footage of it in the 12th Street area, we encourage you to reach out to us.”

Investigators urge residents and business owners in the immediate area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage, specifically between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.
