New Westminster Police provide aid to man in distress after 7 p.m. salute to frontline workers

ON Wednesday, December 30 at 7 p.m., New Westminster Police Department officers were driving past the Royal Columbian Hospital to show their appreciation to frontline workers. As the officers prepared to leave the Sapperton area they received notice from E-Comm 9-1-1 dispatch that a man in distress was only a couple blocks away.

NWPD officers rushed to the scene to find the man who was in need of medical care. Police provided aid until BC Ambulance arrived and transported the patient to hospital.

“We’re thankful we were already in the area and able to provide aid to this man until paramedics arrived,” said Sgt. Sanjay Kumar, “This series of events illustrates that all first responders are working as a team to serve the people of New Westminster in their time of need.”

The New Westminster Police Department would like to remind residents that if they see someone in medical distress to call 9-1-1.
