New Westminster Police seek witnesses following vandalism on Carnarvon Street

ON Monday, May 30 at approximately 1:30 a.m., New Westminster Police Department patrol members received a call from a resident who reported they were watching someone smashing the windows of a condominium lobby with a brick.

Officers witnessed a man matching the suspect’s description standing next to smashed windows of a second address across the street. The suspect was taken into custody after he tried to smash the windows of a third condominium lobby. Officers later learned the suspect had allegedly smashed mirrors of two parked cars.

“This is a densely populated area of the downtown neighbourhood and officers believe there may have been more witnesses that saw this mischief and have not spoken to police,” said Sgt. Sanjay Kumar. “Officers will be recommending numerous charges to Crown Counsel.”

The New Westminster Police Department is appealing for witnesses to call 604-525-5411 if they have any information about what occurred in the 800-block of Carnarvon on the evening of May 30.
