ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau detectives have made an arrest following the death of 18-year-old Nishan Thind of Brampton.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., police were notified by a local hospital of a male who had been admitted and subsequently died. It was determined he had been shot at an unknown location and time and dropped off at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Thind.

On Tuesday, January 9, police executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence and subsequently arrested 18-year-old Preetpaul Singh. He has been charged with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence. He was held in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

The suspected shooter is a 16-year-old male from Brampton and is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for manslaughter.

Police said that general provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibit the release of the name of a young person, and, therefore, the identity of the young person wanted in this investigation is protected.
