ONTARIO: Gurmit Chahil of Brampton faces firearm-related charges

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have laid charges against a 44-year-old man from Brampton for firearm-related offences.

On Wednesday, February 24 at 1:17 p.m., officers executed a criminal code search warrant at a residence in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Charolais Boulevard in Brampton.

As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized a .22 calibre rifle, a SPAS 12-gauge shotgun, a stock for a Mossberg sawed-off shotgun, a black pistol grip and numerous rounds of ammunition. 

Gurmit Chahil, is charged with the following offences:

  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime 

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday, February 25 to answer to the charges.
