ON July 20, Ontario MP Leona Alleslev (Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill) tweeted: “Tonight, Liberals from across #YorkRegion welcomed @JustinTrudeau to #Aurora to celebrate all that we have accomplished since forming government in 2015. Thank you to everyone who joined us, I’m proud to be part of this team as we head into 2019!”

On September 17, Allesley suddenly announced she was quitting the Liberal Party to join the Conservatives because of concerns about how the government was handling the economy, foreign affairs and military spending. She claimed her attempts to raise her concerns with the government “were met with silence.”

Alleslev narrowly defeated the Conservative candidate in the 2015 election by 1,093 votes.

  1. Leona does not have a vote from me going forward. I voted for her as a Liberal and her cross the floor manoeuvre leaves Aurora Liberals in limbo. What happens to the majority of people who do not want her to represent them as a conservative?
    Unfair!
