ONTARIO: Peel Police issue public safety alert in connection to sexual assault investigation

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a sexual assault investigation.

On Friday, November 8 at 7:48 a.m., an 18-year-old woman from Brampton was at the bus stop at Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way in the City of Brampton when an unknown suspect approached her in a vehicle and presented himself as a rideshare driver. The suspect offered the victim a ride in exchange for a cash payment.

The suspect proceeded to drive the victim to an area near the Clareville Conservation on Highway 50 and The Gore Road in Brampton, where he allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.

The suspect is described as male, South Asian, medium complexion, black faded hair (short on top), well-kept full black beard, medium to muscular build, average height, approximately 20-25 years old, wearing a blue or black winter jacket and black pants.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black four-door Hyundai Elantra.

Investigators have determined that a separate incident that occurred in York Region (Vaughan) may be linked to the same suspect, operating the same motor vehicle.

Police are reminding the ridesharing public to always verify the vehicle, licence plate, and driver.

Investigators are seeking anyone with dashcam footage from the areas noted above during the associated times to come forward.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact investigators of the Special Victims Unit at 905-453-2121, extension 3460.
