Poilievre wishes “a very happy, bright and hope-filled Lohri”

CONSERVATIVE Party Leader Pierre Poilievre on Monday released the following statement on Lohri:

“Today, Punjabis and Northern Indians across the world gather to mark Lohri. Around flaming bonfires and in the comfort of cozy homes, families and communities celebrate the deeds of the legendary Dulla Bhatti.

“With the days growing steadily longer, this festival gives us a chance to put the darkness of the past behind us – and to hope for a brighter future ahead.

“As Canadians of Punjabi and Northern Indian heritage celebrate with song, dance, food and fire, we also reflect on the countless ways in which these communities have contributed to our common home.

“Observed for centuries across ethnic and religious lines, Lohri is a festival that speaks to the pluralism at the heart of Canadian society.

“On behalf of Canada’s Common Sense Conservatives, I would like to wish everyone celebrating a very happy, bright and hope-filled Lohri!”
