THE New Westminster Police Department is appealing for witnesses to come forward after a robbery and assault in Moody Park.
On Friday, October 17 at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers were called to the Moody Park lacrosse box to assist two men. Officers learned that the men were approached by a group of three youth. One of the youth punched the victim in the face before stealing cash from his wallet.
Police searched the area for people matching the suspect descriptions; however, no one could be located. Police are asking members of the public to come forward if they know about this incident or believe they can identify any of the suspects. Additionally, if you were driving through the area of 8th Street and Eighth Avenue around 5:20 p.m. and have dash cam footage, you are requested to reach out to the New Westminster Police Department.
The first suspect is described as a South Asian male, approximately 18 years old, standing 5’11” tall, with a slim build, black hair, and wearing a red sweatshirt.
The second suspect is described as a South Asian male, approximately 18 years old, with black hair and blue jeans.
The third suspect is described as a South Asian male, approximately 18 years old, with a slim build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, yellow puffer vest, and riding a black electric scooter.
“The best thing these youth can do is come forward,” said Communications Officer Hailey Finnigan. “Incidents like this don’t stay secret for long. It’s better to take responsibility now than wait for that knock on the door.”
