ON Friday, October 18, Surrey RCMP responded to the 7800-block of 122 Street to assist the Surrey Fire Department with a report of a residential structure fire.

Officers found that a person had been detained by the Surrey Fire Department and took him into their custody. The role of this individual in the incident is being determined through investigation, police said.

At this time, the investigation is in the early stages and frontline officers are speaking with witnesses. The Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit is on scene and has taken conduct of the investigation.
