BETWEEN March 21 and March 29, members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), with the assistance of the RCMP, made three unrelated significant seizures of controlled substances from commercial airline flights returning to Canada. Two separate flights from Montego Bay and one from Mexico City were used to import approximately 25 kg of cocaine and 4.1 kg of hashish into Pearson International Airport (PIA).

Members of the CBSA and RCMP Toronto Airport Detachment are aggressively pursuing people who would otherwise be offloading these dangerous controlled substances from commercial airlines, including passenger and cargo, at PIA, for distribution to the streets of Toronto and beyond. 

“Organized crime groups will use any means to import controlled substances like fentanyl, heroin and cocaine into Canada. These seizures underscore the necessity for the RCMP to work closely with our law enforcement partners and the public to protect our communities and our borders,” said Inspector Barry Dolan, RCMP Officer in charge of Toronto Airport Detachment.

“These seizures prove that working with our partners, even in challenging times, help protect our borders and keep drugs out of our communities. The Canada Border Services Agency remains committed to intercepting illegal drugs coming into Canada,” added Lisa Janes, Regional Director General, Greater Toronto Area Region, CBSA.

The CBSA estimates the total value of the cocaine seizures at over $3 million and the hashish seizure at over $82,000.
