RCMP investigating multiple fires in Coquitlam’s Maillardville neighbourhood

COQUITLAM RCMP are seeking information from the public following multiple reports of suspicious fires in the Maillardville neighbourhood.

On Tuesday, September 30 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP responded to a structure fire in the 1100-block of Hachey Avenue. Coquitlam Fire and Rescue attended the scene and extinguished the fire. All occupants were safely evacuated without injuries.

Coquitlam RCMP are also investigating other fires that occurred in the Maillardville neighbourhood between September 27 and September 29, between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., near Hammond Avenue and Therrien Street, Laval Square and Cartier Avenue, and Nelson Street and Walls Avenue. No injuries were reported in these incidents.

The cause of the fires and any potential connections are currently under investigation by Coquitlam RCMP’s General Investigation Section.

“We are asking anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or have information to contact Coquitlam RCMP,” said Media Relations Officer, Acting Sgt. George Han.
