GURU Nanak Food Bank says that its Mega Food Drive event on Sunday held at 15299 68 Avenue in Surrey witnessed an overwhelming response from the community, resulting in a record-breaking donation of food.
Last year, Guru Nanak Food Bank collected a whopping 143 tons of food during its annual food drive. This year, thanks to outstanding support and a tremendous turnout, the food bank said that it had surpassed all expectations by collecting a staggering 213 tons of food. “This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our community members, volunteers, and local businesses,” it added.
The Mega Food Drive event was attended by, among others, Surrey City Councillors Mandeep Nagara and Doug Ellford, MP John Aldag, MLA Jinny Simms, Conservative MP Tim Uppal, and MP Jasraj Hallan.
“We were also honored to have the presence of Surrey Firefighter Association members, as well as numerous community members and business owners, who all came together to make this food drive a resounding success,” the food bank said.
“The Guru Nanak Food Bank would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, volunteered, and supported this noble cause. We deeply appreciate the time, effort, and generosity exhibited by each individual and organization involved. Your contributions will go a long way in ensuring that families in need receive the nourishment and sustenance they deserve,” the food bank said in a statement.
“As a key pillar of the community, the Guru Nanak Food Bank remains committed to combating hunger and fostering compassion. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our efforts in any way they can, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness about the importance of addressing food insecurity.”
