Richmond collision involving an alleged impaired driver

RICHMOND RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at Sea Island Way and Great Canadian Way shortly after 8 p.m. on December 12. The complainant advised he was driving his grey 2023 Hyundia Elantra when he was allegedly rear-ended by a semi-truck.

The complainant advised that as he spoke with the driver of the semi-truck, he could smell what he believed to be liquor on the driver’s breath. Richmond RCMP frontline officers attended and ultimately arrested the driver for allegedly operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

Richmond RCMP are seeking witnesses and dash cam footage in connection to this collision. Police are asking anyone who was the in the area of Great Canadian Way and Sea Island Way between 7:50 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to review their dash cam footage. Richmond RCMP is aware of potential footage of this collision circulating on social media and are asking anyone who may have footage to come forward.
