Richmond RCMP investigating hit and run pedestrian collision

SHORTLY before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Richmond RCMP responded to the area of Gilbert Road and Blundell Road for reports of a pedestrian being struck. The pedestrian, a man in his mid-70s from Richmond, was allegedly struck while crossing the roadway with his wife. The vehicle involved fled the scene with no efforts by the driver to render assistance to the injured man. The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries. His wife was luckily not struck.

Police believe a dark-coloured sedan type vehicle is involved with signs of damage.

The Richmond RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has assumed conduct of the investigation.

Police are asking the community for their assistance and asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Constable Z. Sharoom at 604-278-1212 and quote file# 2019-16570. Police are asking drivers who may have been in the area at the time to review their dash-cam footage and contact them.
