ON March 30, at around 6:30 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a request for assistance by Richmond Fire-Rescue for a large-structure fire at a business complex located at the 8100-block of Capstan Way. Through a collaborative investigation between the two agencies, investigators located evidence suggesting the fire appeared suspicious and deliberately set.
“This was a brazen act that could have had serious consequences and endangered lives because it was committed shortly before some employees arrived for work, not to mention the financial losses suffered by these businesses. Through the course of the investigation, we have obtained video of the suspects, who arrive at the scene in a dark coloured late model Mercedes SUV, likely a G-series variant,” said Constable Kenneth Lau on Friday.
“We ask the public to have a look at this video to see if they are able to assist the Richmond RCMP with any information they may have about this incident. Any information may prove to be useful in our investigation.”
If anyone has information on this incident, contact Constable J. Simpson of the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file #19-10416.
