Sahib Punia of Surrey charged with assaulting Delta Police officer during arrest

SAHIB Punia, 32, of Surrey has been charged with allegedly assaulting a police officer as a result of an August 22 incident.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on August 22, Delta Police officers responded to a report of an impaired driver at Highway 17 and 80 Street. The reported vehicle was located by officers and a traffic stop was attempted.  The driver initially failed to stop for the officer.

Punia has been released from custody following his court appearance.
