Richmond RCMP seeking witnesses to alleged unprovoked stranger assault.

On July 2 shortly after 12 p.m., the Richmond RCMP Bike Unit attended the 6500-block of No 3 Road for an alleged stranger assault. According to the victim, he was walking in the area when he was allegedly punched in the face by an unknown man. The victim was treated at scene for minor physical injuries.

During the subsequent investigation, Richmond RCMP Bike Unit officers determined the suspect had entered a local area mall at approximately 11:20 a.m. and exited at approximately 11:57 a.m. It was after exiting the mall that he allegedly committed the assault. The suspect was last seen walking Northbound along No. 3 Road towards Westminster Highway.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’9, heavy build.

He was wearing a grey long sleeve top, black pants, and white-and-blue Jordan 11 runners. He was carrying a white backpack.

“This is a busy time of day in the downtown core of Richmond, so we believe there are people out there who witnessed this assault or the events leading up to it. We are appealing to anyone who was in the area to contact us,” said Cpl. Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer, on Friday.

Richmond RCMP Bike Unit has conduct of this ongoing investigation.
