Serial sexter held for harassing 40 women

The 33-year-old accused called random numbers and if a woman picked up he would continue to harass her with dirty calls and lewd messages

The Malabar Hill police have arrested a 33-year-old man for harassing women by sending lewd text messages and calling them up persistently.

The police said that the Jaipur-based youth harassed around 40 women like this.

Abhishek Khare used to call on random numbers and if the voice was a woman’s, he continued to harass her by calling her and talking dirty, and sending obscene messages.

Khare, whose brother works with the Jaipur police, is a resident of Paramhans Marg, Mansorvar in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

“We received complaints from women, who live at Malabar Hill, and traced the number. We arrested the accused from Jaipur,” said Vinay Bagade, a senior police inspector of Malabar Hill police station.

“Khare has called around 40 women like this and the Khar police station also received complaints regarding his antics. We suspect that more women will come forward and complain after they hear about his arrest,” said Bagade. Khare has a hotel management degree but has not yet landed a job.

“His brother works with the Jaipur police, CID, and so Khare thought he would never fall into trouble,” added Bagade.

“We registered a case under section 509 of the IPC (insulting the modesty of a woman) and have also booked him under relevant sections of the IT Act. We have arrested him and he will stay in police custody till July 20,” said Nisar Tamboli, deputy commissioner of police.
