ON Sunday, November 2 at approximately 1:10 a.m., a Chilliwack RCMP officer activated her emergency button after being involved in a serious two-vehicle collision on Vedder Road, just north of Stevenson Road.
The officer was travelling northbound in a fully marked 2021 Ford Explorer police vehicle when a southbound 2006 Lincoln Zephyr crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with the police vehicle.
Witness statements taken at the scene suggest that speed and erratic driving by the Lincoln driver were contributing factors. Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the collision.
The RCMP officer remains in hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Lincoln, a 29-year-old male from Chilliwack, was treated for minor injuries and released.
The collision remains under investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
