Setting a World Record in Surrey

On Saturday, August 17th, Prospera Credit Union is presenting Kung Fu Panda 2 at Holland Park, located at the corner of King George Boulevard and Old Yale Road. This animated film tells a story of the kung-fu panda, Po, who must battle a peacock villain with his friends to protect China, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past.

In addition to watching a much-loved movie under the stars, participants are invited to join The Surrey Marathon’s attempt to set a new world record for having the most people waving flags from around the world!
The highly-anticipated 2nd annual Surrey International World Music Marathon will take place on September 29th. The new route includes over 10km of park land and greenways for each loop of the course. Unique to this race is the feature of ‘Cultural Music Miles,’ where runners and spectators alike will be entertained at every mile along the marathon route by live cultural music performances.

The Surrey Marathon recognizes that our city’s diversity is something worth celebrating! Looking forward to the marathon in the fall, the DSBIA wants to encourage everyone to get in the marathon mood and help wave one of the 500 flags at this week’s Movies Under the Stars.
Free cultural flags will be handed out to participants at Holland Park at approximately 7:15pm and the record attempt will commence at 7:45pm. Then you can stay and enjoy watching Kung Fu Panda 2.

There are more free outdoor films in store for this summer, so mark your calendars. The Croods will be shown on the 24th and Bollywood Under the Stars on the 31st, both located at Holland Park on the corner of King George Boulevard and Old Yale Road in Surrey. For more information: 604.580.2321.
