THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Monday identified the homicide victim in South Surrey as Troy Michael Regnier in hopes of furthering their investigation.

On Saturday, August 27 at 10:58 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a shooting outside a residence in the 16600-block of 19 Avenue.  Members attended the scene and located a 37-year old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by the members, the man died as a result of his injuries.

IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

Surrey RCMP arrested three suspects at the scene, who were believed to have been known to the victim, though at this time no charges have been laid.

“We’re urging anyone who knew Mr. Regnier to come forward and speak with police,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti. “Investigators continue to work to determine the motive. This is believed to be an isolated incident and does not appear to be related to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.”

IHIT is asking any witnesses or anyone who was traveling in the 16600-block of 19 Avenue between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. with dash cameras, to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
