THE Vancouver Goldeneyes defeated the Ottawa Charge by a score of 2–1 on Tuesday night at the Pacific Coliseum, in front of a loud crowd of 9,250 fans.
Vancouver continued its strong play at home, earning its third consecutive home victory and improving its record to 2-1-0-3, good for second place in the standings.
Katie Chan, a Richmond native, opened the scoring at 7:50 of the first period, record the first goal and point of her PWHL career. Chan earned her spot on the roster out of training camp and was rewarded with a memorable milestone moment.
In the second period, Jenn Gardiner, another local product from Surrey, doubled the lead with her goal to make it 2–0 Vancouver.
Ottawa pushed back late, scoring a goal in the third period, but Kristen Campbell shut the door the rest of the way. Campbell was outstanding in net, stopping 33 of 34 shots to earn her first win of the season. The 2024 PWHL Goaltender of the Year was a big difference maker in the game.
The next Vancouver Goldeneyes home game is Saturday, December 20 at 12 p.m., as they host Montreal at the Pacific Coliseum.
