EFFECTIVE January 1, 2019, seniors 70 years and older will enjoy a 75% discount on recreation passes and drop-in admissions. Surrey City Council unanimously approved to increase the discount from the current 25% to 75% at Monday night’s Regular Council meeting.

“Surrey is a city that prides itself in ensuring all of its citizens are fully engaged and active no matter the age, ability or means,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum. “This new rate will encourage participation and healthy living by allowing for easier financial access to the City’s numerous recreational facilities and programs for our residents who are 70 years or older.”

Encouraging seniors to be active and full participants is important to the quality of life of older adults. Through this universal discount, the City is promoting life-long engagement in our community.

Clients 70 years and older who have purchased an annual pass at a higher fee will receive a pro-rated refund to account for the new discount effective in the new year. The City of Surrey also has provisions for low-income seniors to receive additional discount through the Leisure Access Program.
