Surrey Civic Theatres receives $160K for Presentation Series

THE City of Surrey announced on Monday that Surrey Civic Theatres has received $160,000 over two years through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.

The funding will support Surrey Civic Theatres programing including must-see theatre and music events, Coffee Concerts, and Surrey SPARK Stages kids and family performances.

“We are grateful for funding support from the Department of Canadian Heritage for our Civic Theatres programming and for arts and culture initiatives in Surrey,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke. “The City of Surrey recognizes the importance of arts and culture to the social fabric of our community. We continue our strong commitment to supporting arts and cultural organizations and projects within the City through our Cultural Grants Program and city led programs, services and events.”

CAPF funding, from the Department of Canadian Heritage, provides financial assistance to organizations that professionally present performing arts series, as well as organizations that offer support to arts presenters. The Department of Canadian Heritage provides annual funding for the Surrey Civic Theatres’ regular operations and recently awarded the theatres several additional one-time grants in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Support for Cultural Workers grant, Re-Engaging Audiences grant and two years of COVID relief funding to support theatre operations at the Surrey Arts Centre.
