Surrey Police Service identifies sexual assault suspect

SURREY Police Service (SPS) announced on Tuesday that the person who was the subject of a public appeal in an alleged sexual assault that occurred on September 17 has now been identified by police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Investigators have reason to believe the suspect is a young person.

On September 17 at approximately 7:15 p.m., a 10-year-old female victim was in a business in the 7100-block of 138 Street. The female was approached by a male who grabbed her buttocks and fled the scene. SPS was contacted at approximately 8 p.m. and frontline members attended the scene. SPS Special Investigation Section was subsequently notified and took conduct of the investigation.
