Surrey Police Service welcomes seven new recruit constables

SPS’s Recruit Constable program is highly competitive with just 52 selected to date from over 1,500 applications


ON September 8, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officially welcomed seven new recruit constables to the community-based municipal agency.

This is the fifth group of recruits to begin their policing careers with SPS. This group consists of four females and three males, ranging in age from 25 to 38 years.

These SPS recruits will now begin their municipal police officer training at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), as part of Class 172.

 All the recruits have a connection to Surrey – either as residents or through past employment, as well as extensive volunteering experience. They also reflect the diversity of the community they will serve, with different cultural backgrounds and language skills.

“The diversity and skills of these recruits reflect the great community that we serve,” says Chief Constable Norm Lipinski. “I have no doubt that these individuals will do great things for Surrey Police Service and for the residents of Surrey once they graduate. I congratulate the group for their achievement and our hardworking recruiting team for identifying these top-quality recruits.”

This recruit class brings considerable experience in public safety with several bringing work experience in other areas of law enforcement and protection services.
