BACK by popular demand, the Surrey RCMP is hosting another series of “Coffee with Cops” events around town this October for residents and business owners to connect with their local police officers.
These informal sessions with Surrey RCMP officers who work in the community have proven to be a big hit over the past three years. Coffee with Cops events give residents an opportunity to ask questions, brainstorm solutions, and find out how public safety concerns in their neighbourhood are being addressed.
“Our Community Response Unit officers enjoy the opportunity to meet local residents and business owners and discuss real time issues impacting the community in an open and relaxed environment,” says Inspector Wendy Mehat, Community Support and Safety Officer. “These sessions often result in both officers and residents coming away with a greater appreciation of the public safety issues that are relevant to each neighborhood. We look forward to meeting the community at these events.”
Mehat and the Community Response Unit will be hosting Coffee with Cops events in each of Surrey’s five districts. The sessions are open to all area residents and businesses and no registration is required.
