Surrey RCMP investigate Newton stabbing

SURREY RCMP are seeking assistance from the public following a stabbing in the Newton area.

On Wednesday, November 20 at 3 a.m., Surrey RCMP received a report a man had been injured in an assault. Upon further investigation, officers learned the victim had been walking northbound on a footpath from 64 Avenue parallel to 137 Street when he was stabbed by an unknown male suspect.

The Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services, assisted in searching for the suspect; however, the suspect was not located. The victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of this investigation, and is currently gathering evidence to identify the suspect described as a white male.

Investigators will be actively conducting follow-up in the area so residents can expect to see police canvassing for witnesses and CCTV.
