Surrey RCMP request video for Saturday’s shooting investigation; 2 in custody

SURREY RCMP said on Sunday that they continuing their investigation into a shooting that occurred in the Newton area on Saturday night and are asking the public for any available video.

On June 19 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting in the 7300-block of 128 Street, near Newton Athletic Park.

Initial indications are that this incident involved two vehicles, a white jeep and a silver SUV. Police located the white Jeep abandoned, crashed into a telephone pole. The occupants were tracked down and it has been confirmed that there were no injuries to those occupants. The silver SUV has not yet been located.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep are currently in police custody.

Police said that the investigation is in its early stages, but initial indications are that this was a targeted shooting tied to drug trafficking and gang activity.
