Suspect arrested after man shot in Abbotsford

AT approximately 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 33200-block of George Ferguson Way.

Upon arrival, officers quickly identified a residence where the incident had occurred and established containment. A 41-year-old man was located at the scene with what is believed to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries, police said.

One man, believed to be the suspect, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody. At this time, this incident is being treated as targeted and is not believed to be connected to the ongoing extortion-related investigations or the earlier homicide on Ridgeview Drive.

Detectives are seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who was in the area of George Ferguson Way between Fuller Street and Ware Street between 11:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and who may have witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
