SURREY RCMP on Tuesday said that a collision occurred on Monday night in the eastbound lanes of Highway 99, west of the Highway 91 interchange, in Newton at approximately 10:18 p.m. An eastbound vehicle struck a stationary police car that was part of a road closure related to a shooting incident, which had occurred earlier on Highway 99.
The officer in the police car and the driver of the civilian vehicle received non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the civilian vehicle was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The driver was released from custody and the investigation is ongoing.
