Suspected targeted shooting in Coquitlam

COQUITLAM RCMP say they  responded on Monday at approximately 7 p.m. to a 911 call of a reported shooting near Westwood Street and Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam. A victim was located and transported to hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the safety of the general public is not believed to be at risk.

“The Coquitlam RCMP take any acts of violence seriously and will pursue all investigative avenues to bring those responsible before the courts,” said Media Relations Officer, Constable John Graham.

Police are asking any witnesses or persons with information about the shooting as well as those with video footage, including surveillance, dash cam or cell-phone video, to contact the Coquitlam RCMP.

The investigation has been assumed by the Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section and is supported by frontline officers.
