A Richmond RCMP Organized Crime Unit multi-year drug trafficking investigation has resulted in charges against three individuals. This investigation began in November of 2021.
During the course of the investigation, multiple search warrants were executed at locations in both Richmond and Vancouver. Items seized during the execution of these warrants included:
- $ 165,567.00 CDN cash;
- $ 14,279 USD cash;
- approximately 3.6 kgs of alleged methamphetamine;
- approximately 1500 tablets of alleged MDMA.
Charges have been approved against three individuals:
Wan Yu Hui: Seven counts of trafficking a controlled substance
Yeping Yang: Four counts of trafficking a controlled substance
Weiyi Yu: Two counts of trafficking a controlled substance
“These charges mark a significant step forward in our ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Richmond,” said Chief Superintendent Dave Chauhan, Officer-in-charge of Richmond RCMP. “This investigation demonstrates our dedication to dismantling criminal operations and protecting our community from the dangers of illicit drugs. We will continue to work tirelessly, alongside our partners, to ensure that those threatening the safety of our community are held accountable.”
This investigation was initiated as the result of intelligence garnered from another Richmond RCMP OCU investigation. As that investigation is currently before the courts no further information will be provided, police said.
“What this shows is the tangled web of complexity we often come across in investigations associated to organized crime,” said Chauhan.
Richmond RCMP said these investigations underscore its steadfast commitment to tackling drug trafficking in the City of Richmond. It encourages anyone with information associated to potential criminal activities to contact their police of jurisdiction.
