Train strikes pedestrian in Cloverdale

UPDATE: Surrey RCMP announced on Thursday morning that the man who was struck by a train on November 20 in Cloverdale has died.

THURSDAY MORNING UPDATE: 53rd Avenue at 184th Street has been cleared and open to traffic. 

SURREY RCMP are currently on scene at a collision involving a train and pedestrian in the Cloverdale area of Surrey.

On November 20 at approximately 7:20 p.m., RCMP responded to a collision between a train and pedestrian near the intersection of 53rd Avenue at 184th Street.

Initial indications are that the male pedestrian sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.

Traffic in the area will be affected for an undetermined time as officers continue their investigation. A road closure is in effect for 184th Street between the intersection of 54th Avenue and 5000 block. The public are requested to avoid the area until further notice.

The investigation into the collision is in its early stages. Investigators are seeking witnesses who observed the collision to contact the Surrey RCMP.
